Although a CMMS is not a cure for all maintenance ‘gripes’, it can help your company become more efficient, cost-effective, and productive. CMMS is just a tool, it’s there to remind you to do things. When you’ve actioned them it enables you to report what you did, time spent on the task, resources used and any spare parts that you have used. A CMMS strengthens your maintenance operation by centralising all of your maintenance information into one system. When a user creates a work order, the system does more than just generate a paper work order. Your CMMS also checks resource availability, available spare parts and provides information on any Safety permits required, COSHH information and just about anything your staff may need to know.
A CMMS can enable you to control your Maintenance activities in much greater detail, ensuring work is not released until all the correct paper work is in place, spare parts are available along with the resources with appropriate certification.
